The BRITA filter systematically decarbonises water in four steps:
1 Prefiltering
The prefilter collects coarse particles.
2 Reducing carbonate hardness
The ion exchanger converts Ca and Mg ions into H, preventing limescale formation.
3 Active carbon filtration
All the water – including the water in the bypass – passes through an active carbon filter, which reduces the content of substances that influence the taste and aroma.
4 Fine filtering
The final filtration process collects the remaining fine particles.
